Otter Tail Active Warrant List
Otter Tail County has no curated, photo-based most wanted page. What the county publishes instead is the Sheriff's Active Warrants List. That landing page links to a generated PDF. The county says it is refreshed daily. The document runs about 30 pages. It is purely a warrant list. There are no booking photographs. No arrest narrative appears anywhere in it. Entries shift as courts act, warrants get recalled or corrected, or identity issues surface. So check the date on the report. Questions about a particular name should go through the Sheriff's office, the court, or an attorney. Guessing from the PDF is a bad idea. Two other county products cover different ground: the current custody report and the daily activity report.
Otter Tail Warrant Record Fields
The warrant PDF keeps its fields spare. Read them exactly as the county labels them. You will not find a booking photo, an arrest date, a booking number, a custody location, or a court outcome anywhere in the document. One column labeled Nightcap has no published definition. That gap matters. Resist the urge to read it as a danger rating, a custody status, or any kind of prediction about the person named.
| PDF field | What the county report provides |
|---|---|
| Name | The name printed for the warrant entry. A name alone is not a complete identity match. |
| Issue date | The date shown for the warrant, not a booking, arrest, or conviction date. |
| Level of offense | The offense-level label reported in the active-warrant PDF. |
| Reason for warrant | The reason stated on the county report, which should not be recast as a final court finding. |
| Nightcap | A local report field whose meaning was not confirmed in the public source. |
| Notes | Additional report text that may help the agency identify or administer the warrant. |
A different tool applies when a case moves to state prison or supervised release. The Minnesota DOC Offender Locator covers that custody category. It does not replace the Otter Tail County Jail roster. And it cannot tell you whether a current warrant has been resolved.
Read Otter Tail Warrant Listings
Begin with the official warrant page. It explains how often the list is updated and links to the current PDF. Keep the report date handy when you ask about an entry. A social media post is never enough to conclude a warrant is active. Neither is a third-party archive or a similar name. If identity is the open question, let the Sheriff or the court sort it out. Throughout, keep three things distinct. The warrant record, any booking record, and the final court result are separate matters.
- Open the Sheriff’s active-warrant landing page and note the date of the linked PDF.
- Compare the printed name and fields with reliable information already available to the requester. Do not assume a shared name identifies the same person.
- Read the issue date as a warrant date only. It does not show whether there was a new arrest or current detention.
- Use the Sheriff, detention facility, court, or an attorney for a current status question or a decision about how to respond.
- If a person is taken into custody, confirm any current booking separately through the official county custody source rather than treating the warrant PDF as proof.
Otter Tail Tips and Warrant Safety
The Sheriff does run an anonymous-tip channel. Anyone with information about an active warrant can use it. No public reward amount has been confirmed. No Crime Stoppers count or stand-alone tip line either. So treat any reward promise elsewhere with suspicion. To share a tip safely, use the Sheriff's official contact route. Warrant questions go to the agency. A news outlet or archive site cannot resolve them.
Safety note. Never approach, follow, or confront a person over a warrant listing, and never try to confirm their identity yourself. Use the Sheriff's anonymous channel or contact the Sheriff or detention facility directly, since a warrant entry can change at any time.

Otter Tail Warrant PDF Is Not a Booking List
Don't confuse the daily warrant PDF with the jail roster. They answer different questions. The PDF holds warrant metadata only, with no booking photos. The Sheriff's Jail In-Custody List is separate and refreshed every two hours. It shows who is currently held, with custody details and sometimes a booking photo. Neither source is a history of every arrest in the county. A name can sit on the warrant PDF while the person walks free, sits jailed on an unrelated matter, has been released, was transferred, or is held for another jurisdiction.
The daily Activity Report differs again. It tallies calls for service by category and count. No names, booking numbers, or photos appear in it. Mixing up these sources is a common mistake, because a warrant, an activity category, and a booking can look like one event when they are really three. For custody status, booking records, and historical requests, the countywide options on the Otter Tail public-records home page cover each route.
Check an Otter Tail Warrant
Start with the current Sheriff PDF. Then turn to the courts and agency contacts to clear up anything ambiguous. Minnesota Court Records Online, known as MCRO, works well as a separate case-record check. It searches by name, case number, citation, attorney, county, filing date, category, and status. One caution applies. An empty defendant-name search is not a reliable no, since pending criminal cases without a conviction may not show up in that mode.
- Check the date on the official active-warrant PDF and look for the exact printed entry.
- For a court-file cross-check, use Minnesota Court Records Online and retain a case number when one is available.
- Contact the Sheriff, detention facility, or Court Administration to verify a current question, especially where names are similar or the record may have changed.
- For an affected person, address appearance, surrender, or legal-response decisions with the court, Sheriff, and/or an attorney. Do not rely on a PDF alone for individualized direction.
Otter Tail Warrant Check Sources
Every source here answers one narrow question. A warrant's issue date is not an arrest date. A public court listing does not certify that a warrant is still live. The table keeps those limits in view while you check a record.
| Official source | What it can confirm | What it cannot establish alone |
|---|---|---|
| Active Warrants List | Published county warrant fields as of the PDF date. | Current custody, an arrest, a photo, or a court disposition. |
| Jail In-Custody List | Current county detention snapshot and its stated booking fields. | That every warrant holder is jailed or that a released person was never booked. |
| MCRO | Available court-case information and later docket activity. | A complete negative warrant result from a name search. |
| Sheriff, jail, and court | Official verification and the correct contact for a current matter. | Personal legal advice from a public web listing. |
Otter Tail Warrant Identity Checks
A name match alone proves little. Before tying anyone to a warrant, booking, or court file, line up the details that actually identify a person: exact spelling, birth date, the issuing agency, a booking or MNI number where custody is involved, and the listed charges. Records that look like duplicates need a primary source to confirm it. Guesswork from an archive fills nothing.
Dates deserve care, too. When a warrant was issued is one thing; an arrest date is another, and a jail intake date may not match either. A projected release tells you nothing certain about whether someone has actually left custody. If a name drops off the current jail roster, the public record alone can't say why, whether that means release, a transfer, sentencing, or a correction. The records unit or the court case holds the answer.
Otter Tail Warrant App Limits
No Otter Tail County Sheriff app exists. Nothing pushes warrant alerts, booking photos, or a searchable arrest history. The working sources are the Sheriff's web page and the daily PDF it generates. That file gets rebuilt regularly, with no public version history kept. So a copy you saved last month may not reflect a person's status today. Treat it as a snapshot, not an archive.
Smart911 is a separate tool. It handles emergency alerts and safety profiles, and it has nothing to do with jail rosters, booking photos, or warrant lookups. County social media accounts fall short in the same way. For a live warrant question, the active-warrant PDF or a verification call beats any stale screenshot or outdated third-party listing.
Correct Otter Tail Warrant Records
Spotted something wrong in a county warrant record? Start with the Sheriff's data-request route. Name the exact record, the date, and what looks off. The Sheriff's records form will ask for a file number if you have one, plus the date, the data you want, your delivery preference, and your signature. Specifics matter here. They help the agency figure out whether it holds the record and whether a fix or a classification response is warranted.
Send written requests to the Sheriff's records contact at sheriffsrecords@ottertailcounty.gov. Or mail them to 417 S Court Street, Fergus Falls, MN 56537. One thing a request cannot do: decide or cancel a warrant. That takes the Sheriff, the court, and often a lawyer. If a court outcome seems missing or wrong on paper, confirm it with Court Administration rather than trusting a PDF to tell the whole story.
Minnesota Statutes § 13.03 sets the rules for the county's public-data process. Inspecting records at reasonable times is generally free, though copies may carry actual costs. You can ask for a fee estimate up front. No standard Otter Tail warrant-record fee exists, so ask about the current price and any restrictions rather than assuming a flat rate or a guaranteed turnaround.
